Extracts written during my first weeks in the house.
Entry I
Arrival
I arrived at the property today.
The house sits alone on the moors, stone darkened by centuries of weather. There is no immediate neighbour and no passing traffic.
I intend to continue writing in retirement, though without deadlines or professional obligation. The isolation is deliberate.
Temperature within the structure is lower than anticipated despite active heating. The cold appears to settle within the walls themselves.
Wind pressure against the exterior stone is significant at night and outside it is pitch black. Curtains to be installed tomorrow.
The house has been unoccupied for some time.
It will require reawakening.
